GARRETT COUNTY opts out of the fire sprinklers
As reported in the 8/4/2010 edition of the Cumberland
Times-News, the Garrett County officials decided to opt out of the
residential fire sprinklers requirement. The association's stance has
always been the added burden of cost to the potential homeowner. We also
feel this should also be presented as an option and not as a yet another
mandated requirement. We have stated time and time again that the HBAWM
is not anti-lifesaving nor are we anti-safety. It is about the freedom
to choose. We anxiously wait to hear the decision from the Allegany
County Commissioners on this same issue.
